OpenArts After School

Every Tuesday and Thursday we open the doors of the Bay School, welcoming children within the community to our OpenArts After School Program. This high energy, after school program introduces students to a variety of techniques, media and artists. It is open to any child (age 6-14) who wishes to participate, whether they attend home school or public school. Classes are split into two age groups, 6-10 and 11-14, or grades 1-4 and 5-8.

The middle school class is for 11-14 yr old students who are ready for art projects that may be a bit more involved. We will work on a variety of mixed media projects that may take 2 or more classes to complete. We will also incorporate some personal development into our art work, discovering our unique gifts and what makes us unique. We will explore and discuss core values and what makes us good decision makers. Students will have more freedom to explore a variety of artistic mediums that they may find appealing and I will welcome ideas from them if they have a particular area of interest.

We ask that you provide us with emergency contacts and allergy information when you register your child for the first time.  This class fills quickly.  We have a limited number of spaces available.

If Mathews County Public schools are closed then we will not have class.

This free after school program is funded by the Mathews Community Foundation, an endowment from the Owens Fund, and the UUFR Servetus Community Outreach Endowment Fund.
